Join a Chalice 'Cycling for Children' Tour This Summer

vanessa1 Now in its 8^th year, our ‘Cycling for Children” bike tours have provided many children and adolescents in the developing world with the opportunity to go to school and learn. And in Canada, this event has allowed hundreds of cyclists to do what they love to do – cycle –for a worthy cause.

British Columbia Tour - Huge Success !

On June26^t^h, cyclists from as far as Vancouver joined parishioners from St. Anthony of Padua Parish, to do a 50 km bike ride along the back roads surrounding Agassiz.

The tour had 39 participants taking part with the oldest participant being 76 and the youngest only 8! The youngest participants did very well and most had no trouble completing the total 50 km tour. The tour raised $2,400 to help support the parish's 9 sponsored children. Thanks to all who both participated and donated! Donations are still being accepted through the link below.

Alberta - $27,342.00 Raised! abteampic

29 cyclists battled the rain and wind and took part in the 2-day 180km bike tour in Alberta. The participants ranged in age from 14 to 80! The cyclists raised an astonishing $27,342.00 plus recruited an additional three new child sponsors for a value of $1,188.00! Way to go Alberta! Many thanks goes out to all participants and donors.

Ontario - Saturday/Sunday - August 7-8, 2010

Please join us for a 2-day easy cycle in and around Arnprior on August 7-8, 2010. Departure and return for the rides will be from St. John Chysostom Church in Arnprior. The first day's ride will be approximately 75 km and the 2nd day will be 56 km, allowing any out-of-town cyclists to make an early start home.

Accommodations will be available Friday and Saturday nights to a limited number of riders at our Volunteer Coordinators' houses in Arnprior and Kanata. A $25 registration fee will provide breakfast Saturday morning and dinner on Saturday evening. Riders will be expected to buy other meals at restaurants or fast-food places along the tour route.

We look forward to welcoming you and cycling with you through picturesque rural areas, including farm fields, treed areas and sections that travel beside the Ottawa River.

Nova Scotia - Saturday, August 14, 2010

A one-day 50 km cycle was held on Saturday, August 14, with a good number of cyclists and volunteers participating. As you can see, everyone had a great time and a good sum was realized.

In 2008, five tours raised over $90,600. These funds were used to build and/or furnish several Education projects in our Sponsor Sites. Please see the story called the 2008 Pilien Primary School, Philippines as an example of one school that was completed.

The 2009 tours are already underway. The BC Tour was an AWESOME event, with 36 Cyclists participating and over 17 Volunteers working in many different ways.
