It is important to note that Chalice Canada is a sponsorship organisation that serves the people of Haiti in partnership with three Congregations.  The first Congregation is in north-east Haiti at Sponsor Site Haiti North with the Sisters of Notre Dame de Sacre Coeur. Our second Sponsor Site is called Haiti South where les Soeurs de Bon Pasteur (of Quebec) and the Mariste Brothers operate in the southwestern peninsula. Our focus in Haiti has been to assist these Congregations with their work primarily in education, child development and community growth. Although the provision of relief services may form part of our work at times, "first response" relief work is not part of our regular operations in Haiti.  These services are often provided by partner organizations such as the UN or Haitian Red Cross.  But the enormity of the earthquake devastation has affected the entire country and all organizations have been called upon to come together. Therefore our Sites are working as best they can to assist their people to meet their immediate relief needs while suffering great hardships themselves.
