Kelvin, his brother and sister, live with their grandmother in a timber structure with a metal roof in Meru, Kenya. Kelvin is in grade three and likes Kiswahili and English classes the best. He enjoys riding bicycles. His mother died of meningitis in 2013, leaving the children in their grandmother's care. Kelvin would like to become an engineer when he grows up. Sponsorship enables children to attend classes every day and provides the supplies they need to get a good education. Sponsorship gives children the opportunity to grow up healthy, happy, and able to achieve their dreams.

A SPECIAL NOTE TO SPONSORS FROM THE USA. We will send you a receipt for income tax purposes following the end of each calendar year. Chalice is not a registered charity in the USA, but Canada and the USA do have a tax treaty which allows a tax deduction under certain conditions. Basically, a resident of the USA may be eligible to claim a deduction against taxable income received from Canada. Please consult a qualified financial advisor to review your own personal situation. You can still sponsor if you don't require an official income tax receipt. We have many sponsors from the USA and we send them our heartfelt thank you.
