Lawson lives with his parents in a two-room cement block structure that his family shares with others in Wa, located in the Upper West Region of Ghana. He is in grade one at St. Don Bosco Special School and his favourite subject is Art. He likes to play ball games with his friends. Lawson faces learning challenges. At home, he is responsible for sweeping and helping with other chores. At the WaDeaf Sponsor Site, the school for the deaf helps children integrate into their communities by providing them with an education and practical skills for livelihood development.

A SPECIAL NOTE TO SPONSORS FROM THE USA. We will send you a receipt for income tax purposes following the end of each calendar year. Chalice is not a registered charity in the USA, but Canada and the USA do have a tax treaty which allows a tax deduction under certain conditions. Basically, a resident of the USA may be eligible to claim a deduction against taxable income received from Canada. Please consult a qualified financial advisor to review your own personal situation. You can still sponsor if you don't require an official income tax receipt. We have many sponsors from the USA and we send them our heartfelt thank you.
