Jamesley is a courageous and determined young man and until a few years ago, made himself mobile by walking on all fours. He is one of four children being raised by a widowed mother - tragically, Jamesley's father was killed in the massive earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010.
During a visit to our Haiti South sponsor site six years ago, a Chalice supporter was touched by an encounter with Jamesley and raised funds for him to receive surgery which successfully took place in 2015. Over the last few years, additional funds were raised for him to return to Port-au-Prince to be fitted with hip braces and receive continued physiotherapy which has resulted in him being able to walk short distances without the aid of his crutches. Last year Jamesley was also diagnosed with anemia, which required additional nutrition and medication.
As continuing care is required to treat his anemia with nutrition and medication, upgrade his crutches as he is outgrowing them, and travel to Port-au-Prince to evaluate his progress and receive the next course of physiotherapy, Chalice has received a critical needs request for $1,871.80 to cover his care through to September 2021.
Jamesley's mother works as a farmer and is not in a position to provide Jamesley with this extra level of medical care.
Funding Request: $1,871.80
