Dolly is a 51-year-old mother of three living near our Kerala sponsor site in India.

Chalice critical needs - tumour removal surgery for Dolly, IndiaShe and her husband have raised their three children on what they can earn finding daily wage work. Unfortunately, her husband lost his hand in a workplace accident, and the pandemic has halted all livelihood opportunities for casual workers like Dolly. They have been grateful for their son Sonu's Chalice sponsor, who helps him to attend a school that specializes in programming for children with disabilities.

Dolly had been experiencing non-menstrual bleeding infrequently over the past few years, and in spring of this year, she experienced a serious bleed that required hospitalization. Her doctors tried a procedure which removed tissue from her uterus, but the symptoms persisted. Her doctors diagnosed a uterine tumour and Dolly underwent surgery.

She is now resting and healing at home. But her medication will cost $1,430.62 CAD, far beyond what she and her husband can afford. The Sisters who run our Kerala sponsor site have requested the full amount, and will also accompany Dolly throughout her recovery, ensuring she can access her follow-up appointments.
