When his fever did not break on its own, Shanthi brought him to the children’s hospital near her home. They ran blood tests and diagnosed that it was dengue fever, a mosquito-borne illness common in sub-tropical environments. He had to be hospitalized and placed on IV fluids and antibiotics. After five days as an inpatient, Sudheer was discharged. He is now feeling better.
But his unexpected hospitalization has left Shanthi facing bills of $382.59 CAD, far beyond what she can afford. The Mangalagiri site staff has put forward a request on her behalf. These funds will cover Sudheer’s blood tests, diagnostic tests (including dengue and COVID), urinalysis, and his medicines.
