Malathi and her husband, Vimalraj, both work as assistant masons. They have two sons: Vishwan, who is in grade ten and is part of the sponsorship program through our Tamil site, and Vinosh, who is in grade eight.
Malathi, 32, has been experiencing abdominal pain since October 2023 and has been on medication. In early March, 2024, her pain worsened, so she went to her doctor. After an examination, the doctor diagnosed her with uterine fibroids and recommended surgery.
Malathi was admitted to the hospital and underwent the procedure the following day. She was discharged the day after and is currently recovering under medication.
But all the costs of her hospitalization, including her lab tests, X-ray, biopsy, medicine, and surgery, all come as out-of-pocket expenses. These have generated $1,329.54 CAD in bills – far more than Malathi and Vimalraj can afford on their humble wages.
The Tamil site staff have therefore requested to cover these emergency medical bills on the family’s behalf.
Please note that any donations that exceed the request will be used to fund other critical need emergencies that may arise.
